PEGylation increases stability and extends the half-life from minutes to hours/days, enabling prolonged action on regenerative processes and satellite cells. MGF (IGF-1Ec) is a muscle-expressed splice variant of IGF-1 that is upregulated during stretching/overloading and muscle injury, participating in the activation and proliferation of satellite (myogenic) cells.
